Clarence Overman on Veteran's Day in 2011, aged 89. 
"Don't know what's in the safe," said Overman, "but I guess it's important. Say, was this where the old boy worked?" Told that it was, Overman whistled. "That's something I'll have to write home about." Yank Magazine, July 28 1945
Compare this photo with the one above, and you can see where Clarence was sat. That circular white object is a kachelofen—a type of ceramic heater.
